UTANA @10 ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

THEME: “SECURING THE FUTURE OF WRITERS AND AUTHORS IN AFRICA”.

UTANA is a member driven association upholding and enhancing the profile, significance and rights of academic and non-fiction authors in Uganda. UTANA in conjunction with the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association (NFFO) is celebrating 10 years of existence since its establishment in 2013/2014. The activities to be a commemorated during the celebrations are, young writer’s competition, Author exposition, satellite meetings and a hybrid symposium.

Young Writers’ Competition. Targets young persons aged 18 years and below who are and creativity into confidence and writing ability. The nominees will attend the conference and participate in activities of utana@10 celebration. Iinterested participatesnets should submit a summary of not more than 300 words together with a copy of their written work to either [email protected] OR physically to UTANA Office (Teachers House, Plot 28/30 Bombo Road, Office Room 208) during office hours from 8:00am – 5:00pm, not later than 30^th September 2024. The organising committee of utana@10 celebrations will participate in selecting the winners
Satellite meetings: The satellite meetings are planned to be organised at regional level by selected respective institutions and entities. The meetings will be customised to include workshops, poster presentations, library book displays, dedicated lecture sessions and any other activity as deemed relevant by the respective host institution. The meeting and activities are expected to take place between 14^th and 15^th November 2024 to coincide with the national anniversary celebrations.
Author Exposition: An outstanding author(s) shall be selected to expose his/her works during the UTANA Symposium. Interested authors to expose their works are invited to submit their personal profiles and books to be exposed to [email protected].

A Hybrid Symposium.

UTANA in Collaboration with the Network of African Academic and Nonfiction Authors (Naana), Norwegian Association of Nonfiction and Translators (NFFO) and International Authors Forum (IAF) is holding a Two day Hybrid Symposium on Capacity Building of Academic and Nonfiction Authorship for Africa’s Transformations.
